Baby Leo Is Here!

Mr. Leo was born March 23, 2010 around 3PM! Eight pounds and 19.5 inches long!

Getting myself together well enough to write a post has taken awhile.

Everyone appears to be adjusting well, albeit slowly. Uly is a great big brother and although he has a few moments now and again (Leo stop crying... please?) I think he's doing remarkably well with the change. Leo seems to be glad to be out and he's already packed on about three pounds since birth (good boy). He's wiggly and wonderful! His latest feats include discovering some motor control over his arm (the left one) and everyday he's able to sit up (with a little assistance) for longer and longer periods of time and even stands holding his own weight for a spell. He smiles and coos, especially at big brother Uly.

Leo typically sleeps very well at night and wakes up every three hours to be nursed, like a good baby. I'm particularly grateful for the chunks of sleep. This is the most sleep I've gotten in what feels like a really, really long time.

Cutting this post short to post pictures because Leo is preparing to wake up from his short nap!

Mommy Have Her Wallet?

So I'm 33 weeks pregnant and clearly loosing my mind. I lost my wallet for the first time in my life the other day (thank you, Mexican Restaurant for keeping safe and intact for me), I don't remember how to spell simple words, and I've all but given up getting a good nights' rest for the next year. Luckily I have Uly to help. He often reminds me of the important things in life such as when it's time to take a shower, or how I ought to be careful driving down the driveway because "break car no-good lou-pa (my parents) would be very sad". It's nice. I'm going to really miss these reminders when he's all grown up and bossing someone else around for a change.

Today though, today was different. I took Uly too a little soda fountain here in Clinton called Hoskins and we met Lisa (a family friend) and ate a nice cheap and greasy little lunch of grilled cheese sandwich, hot dogs, fries and chocolate shake (all ordered expertly by him) and when we were finished we looked at all of the pretty thing in the gift-store area for awhile, paid and left. I buckled him in his car seat and then hoisted myself into the vehicle and even managed to shut the door by myself--but as I leaned forward to put the key in the ignition Uly piped up and asked this question: "Mommy have her wallet??".

Blew. My. Mind. This 2.5 year old kid was making sure I didn't forget my wallet again. Amazing.

Maybe I should have let him drive me home.

Litterbox

Uly is now litterbox trained...

After his first experience with a controlled pee at the litterbox he then went on to pee-pee in the potty like a big boy TWICE!

Let's hear it for Kibblet the potty-training cat!

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and grouchy and don't feel like writing much.

Uly is super cute, smart and funny. He's also becoming very creative with his speech and in describing things. We're beginning to talk about dreams and every morning when he wakes up I ask him what he dreamed about; last night it was "animals" and he asked to be taken to to zoo which Gavin did. They had a great time, as always.

Christmas was good too. He was pretty excited about the "magic boxes" that would appear under the tree (thanks Mom, for introducing the idea of the magic box) on Christmas morning.

We're not officially potty-training yet but Uly has used the toilet twice now and has been pretty warm to the idea of using it whenever he thinks about it. We'll take it slow and see how it goes.

Not much else is going on for us at the moment. Hanging in there, I suppose. Another 8 weeks or so and then let the craziness roll...
