When I left the room he was fussing and two minutes later I returned to find him sleeping face-down on Papa Bear.

Uly is doing a full push-up. He wants to crawl really, really bad.

I'm five months old!

I can roll over!

OK, to be fair Uly has been rolling over from back to stomach since the second month. I've mostly nursed him lying on our sides so this movement came pretty easily, especially for such a physical little kid, but rolling over wasn't really a thing until yesterday. For the past month the little guy has set his sights on becoming mobile--one way or another--and at last he's found an outlet. He's very excited about, too.

Food, Glorious Food!

Just a little clip of Uly's Second feeding. Yup, I said SECOND feeding. What a pro, eh? My original plan was to delay solid foods until at least 6 months but the kid has been looking at me enviously every time I eat. Here he is eating breastmilk from a spoon with a little bit of pulverized rice gruel mixed in.

Whoo-hoo

Well as you can see I managed to figure out how to both download video from the camera and to post it to this blog and for the record, the latter was a much, much simpler process... Thumbs up to Blogspot for making the upload stoopid-proof and thumbs down to Sony for the frustrating three hours spent trying to use stoopidly designed, not stoopid-proof software. I finally made it work by digging around in my program files and manually extracted the video. Who knows what I probably broke on my compy by doing this--I guess it will show up sooner or later but hey! So what! We've got video!

My next challenge will be to find some free video-shopping program so I can lower the quality of the recording which will allow me to download and post longer clips. Suggestions, anyone?

Chew, chew, chew, CHOMP!

Little Uly had his 4 month check-up a week or so ago and is still the same adorable, chubby little butterball that he was at his last appointment. For those of you who keep track of such things, he was declared at 75% for weight and 30% for height. Short and squat, he's very much a replica of his mother.

His most recent discovery is his thumb. Chew, chew, chew, CHOMP! If he's not chewing and biting some part of mommy he's chewing and biting on his thumb and other, less desirable fingies. Naturally, this has changed our nursing dynamic somewhat. The Playtex Nurser is looking sexier by the day.

Foot. Specifically, the left foot, is the other recent, significant discovery. He's still a bit too fat to get it close enough to his face to be able to mouth it but I'm sure that's not far off. Pictures of foot-biting coming soon.
