Blur.
Seven months, gone in a flash! I'm taking the advice given by all accomplished mothers and clinging to all the baby-love before it slips away forever. It really is going by so fast!
Leo is Seven months old now and crawling everywhere. The day after he started really crawling he began climbing as well, now he is just beginning to cruise furniture. He has four teeth, the last of which finally emerged fully this morning. He has said "mama" and "da-da". He is very funny, happy baby. He understands the command "no biting", though often cannot resist. His current favorite word (and nickname) is: Bacons. If you say it to him, he'll giggle like a goofball. Leo LOVES his brother, and Uly seems to love Bacons a lot, too. He's especially excited to teach him how to pillow fight and wrestle.
Uly is currently totally obsessed with signs of any and all kinds. You can't imagine what the walls in our house look like. Every available square foot is plastered with homeade and store-bought signs of every conceivable variety. We have no-smoking signs, bathroom signs, signs telling you how to get to Asheville and Chattanooga, Don't Go This Way, Don't Go That Way, No Tresspassing, and well, the creme d'la creme: CAUTION: WET FLOOR. Oh yes, we spent 10 minutes in Food City this morning coveting the Caution Wet Floor cone. I think this is going to teach him how to read, seriously.
Uly is also very funny, though usually it's because he is so serious. Earlier in the week he tried to convince me to buy him a half sweet/half un-sweet ice tea (like daddy gets) and I told him it was a grown-up drink because it had caffine in it and that caffine can make a person a little weird. Uly declared that he "would like to be a little weird." Touche.
The other really fun Uly stuff goings on are song lyrics. "go to sleep little boy-boy, go to sleep little boy-boy, candy red shoes on, me, mo, butter-butt boy-king".
If you know what song this is and the real lyrics I'll buy you an ice cream cone.
Let's see, what else? I know I'm missing about four months worth of updates but wow, I almost don't want to document it. I want to savor it and enjoy every minute as it goes by. My boys are good people, all three of them (had to include Gavin!). Looking forward to updating with more pictures!!!

Super Mega Update
Ok, in reverse order:
Uly and I toured our first pre-school today! He was pretty amazed with the amount of interesting projects there were, floating about the room. I didn't cry, and that was amazing it itself.
Leo has his first tooth and is just starting to crawl, both this week! Hurray for Leo! What a cute, cuddly little guy. Good eater, too!
The Watson's have moved! Address supplied upon request!
All is very well with us. I'm excited to post some new very cute pictures, probably after this blog entry. I still haven't downloaded them from email yet. Shame shame!
Everything is happening so fast I can barely keep up. I guess that is what it is like for anyone with children. Crazy!

Not much new went on today. Leo is still very fond of his feet and toes, and Uly is very quickly learning how to negotiate up. I love this, actually. It's challenging but always amusing.
The other day at the park he met a little girl and she led him away into the playground where they had a great time for about 8 minutes. She convinced him to climb up a tire-rope and back down again, which is something even Gavin could not convince him to do. It was a nice glimpse of how things will likely go when he hits the age of Women... and then a funny thing happened. The conversation went something like this:
Girl: let's go down the slide, Lou-ee! (She misheard his name)
Uly: Uh, I can't do that
Girl: Yes you can, we're allowed
Uly: No no no, I can't do that. I'm too big for that. I'm too big. (excellent excuse, he thought)
Girl: You're not to big! I'm six and I'm not too big!
Uly: *blank stare* I have to go now ... MOMMY!
Lovin' it

Time is flying bye. Wow!
Leo is four months old and an absolute dream baby. He's truly the happiest baby I've ever known.
Uly has passed his third year and is still quite the dynamo. I am absolutely amazed at how gentle and caring he is towards his little brother. He also really loves to entertain him with goofy-kid antics and NOBODY can make Leo laugh quite like Uly. Leo ADORES his brother. Worships him, I think. When I get overwhelmed with all of the daily stuff--the juggling that happens when you have more than one child, trying to live comfortably in a home that belongs to somebody else, postpartum depression--I try and focus on the things that *really* matter, and that's the good health we enjoy and the warmth and love of our friends, family, and each other.
Right now I can hear Uly *read* one of his favorite books to his daddy. It usually embarrasses me to get all slobbery-sentimental in a public way, but I look so forward to hearing this sweet ritual of theirs. It makes me a little sad that it was a horrible pregnancy that shifted Uly's affections over to his dad, but when I think about how awesome that is for both of them I can't help but also feel deeply gratified--and relieved.
Sweetness, all around.

Loving it and WIPED
Totally tired, man.
It's all good :)
Today Uly found his long-gone Baby Doll and used his newly discovered mothering skills to nurse and pamper him. It was both creepy and very sweet. He insisted that Baby Doll wouldn't stop crying and thus needed to spend some time in the crib. He wiped it's rear-end about 500 times with a wet wipe and nearly went to tears when I wouldn't permit him to use the "butt cream" (Desitin). Although perhaps a little too attentive, Uly is a very good Mama.
Am I allowed to say that??
Ok, so now onto Leo.
This baby is freakin' A awesome. First class baby, all the way. Unless he is hungry, sleepy, or needs a fresh nappy, this kid is rational. You can talk him out of almost any level of hysteria, and if you play your cards right you might end up with a laughing baby. Yep, Leo laughs.
Two months old and this kid laughs, smiles, imitates sounds, ROLLS OVER from front to back AND back to front (twice that I've personally witnessed), pushes himself up on is forearms to look around, chews on his hands and anything you might have put in his hands, AND he sleeps in three hour blocks during the night. FOR REAL. Dream baby, fer shure.
Right now Leo is sleeping in his little crib (he likes that for naps) and Uly is in the bed next to him. I plucked Uly off of his father who was mowing the lawn (the most reliable way to get him asleep, though this isn't a planned affair) and little Leo had gone down only minutes prior. Good deal.
I love my boys.
